[Ending]
So tell me...how is destroying the mass relays, nullifying inter-stellar commerce and culture and probably guaranteeing the deaths of billions by cutting off their planet's supply lines better than destroying them like the Reapers planned? The whole series was about STOPPING billions from dying and preventing the pushing of entire races back into the stone age....no? I'm not as militant as others regarding the bad ending, but even with the wide-open mind I afforded it, it still disappointed. [/Ending] |

Give the disciple a go if you like to get up close and personal (if I recall, the scimitar requires almost point blank usage). It's pretty obscene, without the ammo restrictions of the M300.

Posting to join the hatin' crew of demanding multiplayer teammates. "waaah you haven't got a mic waaah your N7 level is too low waaah" is getting a bit tedious now - even though I seem to be the only soldier/engineer when the other three are all infiltrators.
That Palaven mission is gash, and the Geth as a multiplayer enemy are full of overpowered enemies which ruins the whole balance. Ending is unusually poor, looking forward to the Extended Cut, although I did discover the fourth ending where you take too long to decide your final action and you recieve the super secret "the crucible is destroyed lol" ending. In all honesty, I'm just glad I got to hang out the back of Ashley, seeing as I did so in ME and did nobody in ME2 in anticipation of this. |

Do you find Geth the hardest? I usually find them the easiest (I'd rather deal with flamethrowers and hunters than phantoms and engineers or banshees and ravagers), their two real weaknesses being that every single one of them (excluding primes which are so slow you can trivially kite) can be insta-killed with a grab and that they're all synthetic, meaning a Salarian engineer with energy drain can turn them into scrap. They're also rather slow, thus good long-ranged fodder for biotic explosions; my favourite tactic is (Asari adept) rotating warp and throw on the nearest prime, watching everything around it turn to dust.
Infiltrators are okay for gold, but only if you're going up against a "random" enemy (which in gold is fairly stupid as everyone should be level 20 anyway) because they're reasonable against everything. Asari adept is probably an equally good, if not better all-rounder, certainly so against Cerberus (phantom, meet statis; statis, phantom) Salarian engineer is ridiculous against geth and Quarian engineer or Turian sentinel is pretty good vs reapers (though they have less weaknesses than the other two). Soldiers I find to be a bit... ehh, I'd argue that anything a soldier can do, a sentinel can do better. That said, a Turian soldier with the Revenant is hilarious.

Yeah, Feel like Geth is the easiest, especially if there's a Quarian infiltrator on your team. Ai hacking or whatever it's called now makes it pretty trivial. Use the primes to take out all the other geth, then just keep hacking him when he's the last thing there so you can shoot him with no consequence. Likewise, Cerberus engineers become hilarious, because you wait for them to put down a turret, hack it, and watch it mow down everyone nearby. It's just a shame how often team mates don't realise an enemy is hacked and shoot them down before you can get a good score off it. The hunters can be annoying if you get caught in the open by them, but if your team sticks together properly and has reasonable awareness (also, with the new geth classes' hunter mode they are easier to deal with).
I find Reapers to be by far the hardest enemies, because Banshees are horrible bullet sponges, and their instakill is cheap. At least Phantoms don't take too many hits to take down, and don't have a move which closes the space between you in seconds. Also I feel like with Banshees, Brutes and Ravagers, Reapers have way more "heavy" enemies than the other classes, or at least, more devestating ones. It gets horrible towards later waves when they all start spawning at once. The new maps and stuff: I got the Geth Engineer and the Kishock Sniper Rifle (so far). I like the Geth Engineer, really versatile because of hunter mode, which is great for increased damage output, as well as sniping Hunters, phantoms, or enemies concealed by smoke, before they can really get up on you. Overload isn't great and a bit limited but occasionally useful. The Turret is really useful, particularly for ccapture and hold objectives, or just holding a flank long enough to secure another. The Kishock Rifle is a pile of shit, imo. No reason to be using it over one of the high powered sniper rifles (I use the valiant, 3 shots, incredibly quick reload, decent damage). I really like the new maps though, although possibly just because they are fresh. The one on Palaven I like because it has a bit more verticality that most of the other maps, imo. Just a nice change of scenery, really. The other one (Hydra) I like because it reminds me of the map with the satellite dishes, but with fewer horrible pockets to get trapped in, nice and open, which is great for someone who likes to play with a sniper rifle... |

From what I understand, people who have got that ending haven't necessarily "chosen" it, rather tried to shoot the kid for a laugh which also triggers it.

spoiler alert i shot the kid too shepping around and had to do the whole fucking thing through again, im so slow and in pain....i....so close.....if i can just....walk towards this giant beam of light....and down this long...ramp downwards....and up again......platform.....so weak.....must complete.......crappy ending.....
more closure was nice but they're never gunna fix that the series choices pretty much amounted to nothing. the whole ending is just a sad betrayal of expectations. it had all been pretty quality and then in the last fifteen minutes theyre like nope time for shit nonsense, illusive man freaks out with the tiniest bit of conjecture, anderson has his incredible black man death - you did good child. you did good. - and you know the rest dear reader. the last scene with the little 'tell me the story!' kid is so corny as well. the mass effect team owe me nothing, and the extended cut definitely makes it better but it'd be a hard stretch to convince me that it wasn't an altogether rubbish finale when put against the rest of the games. i'm grateful that the criticisms let me find out what deus ex actually means tho

Yeah, since EC I'd consider myself satisfied, if not happy. It was a lot better, I felt a lot more optimistic about the fate of the Universe - given I got the ultimate paragon 4k+ EMS destroy ending, it felt good to see that everyone I cared about including Shepard living on. That said, the lack of feedback to previous choices in the series was dire. It would've been so easy too, think fallout new vegas; about 20 different cutscenes (well, in NV they were just static images, but you get my point) based on different things you did or didn't do in the game with a voiceover giving detail regarding what happened to them directly after the battle and in the future if they survived. There's a lack of closure. I assume some of this will be carried over into the next game in the ME Universe (sans Shepard as the protagonist), although this did seem like an ideal point to tie all of this together into a single thread for the future.

I'd rather they just left the franchise for a while.
Right now I want them to concentrate on not doing a shitty rush job with DA3 and I want them to start start talking about some superawesome new next gen IP. |
