I never used the lean features in the original FEAR. Lean seemed more like a "rotate the camera on an awkward angle" rather than a typical peek. Besides, it was much more satisfying to barrel around corners guns blazing.

I finally got  into the streets. What the shit is with that puppeteer zombie dude. It was awesome but I felt like I was gonna have an epileptic seizure everytime he did...whatever it was he did.

Also  I love how they changed things up for the actual game to avoid spoiling surprises where bits of dialouge and story stuff is happening far before it happened in the demo.

timing doesn't work I don't think. Intel says that Snakefist is in contact with the Aristede woman pre F.E.A.R. He could be the team leader I suppose, but it seems unlikely to me.

I suspect he's just a rubbish Mapes replacement.

So yeah, I'm mid way through interval 3 at the moment. It's good so far, some good scares and some nice graphical set pieces. Combat is a lot smoother I think than in the first game, although the highlighted enemies in slow motion makes things a bit too easy (particularly those guys with big flame tanks on their back that you can blow up - so much fun!). I also like that you can actually cook grenades now rather than having to shoot them midair - I also like hat if you shoot grenades midair now they change direction. If I have the time and inclination I might use that feature quite a lot...

So yeah, really good game, lots of fun, good scares (I particularly hate those wall crawly bastards. Worse than the ninja clones in the first game.

<3 the ninja clones, probably the freakiest enemy due to being so silent  and their electrical damage DoT/Damage thing in Fear:2. Spoilered because some folk might not know they're still in F:2 .

And I had no idea you could shoot the 'nades off, I always legged it as soon as I noticed one |:

Had a go at multiplayer. It's fun but playing the "Mech Combat/Control Point" mode is kinda rubbish. The control point part is pretty fun, but you'll NEVER get in a Mech if you don't nab it when the match begins since people camp it until it unlocks and then basically camp WITH it around the middle of the map, making no move to progress so the team can win. It doesn't help that the thing auto-repairs pretty quickly so Mech camping is basically encouraged. Since they also turn as fast as a normal player (c'mon, I was behind one firing at it with a rocket launcher and it swivels at the speed of light and hits me with two rounds from the chainguns to kill me?) they're heavily unbalanced and neigh impossible to kill if the person in it is good, and your team isn't ganging up on it (which is also a bad idea cause then the other team will just run right past you and attack your control points).

I've never tried it with enemy nades, I'm not sharp enough, but if you're in slow mo it's easy enough to shoot ones you threw.

I did once accidentally shoot one in an enemies hand though (in the first game). Good fun, possibly more fun than shooting them with a shotgun close enough that they explode.

I've found this game so far (to the Subway point) to be totally uninspired, it's a decent play through, but nothing that screams "oh my godz i'm ossum game lol"; it's very polished but seems to lack any substance.

I'm rather disappointed with it, but then I was going to buy it anyway, purely to find out what happens next in the storyline.

Stand out moments thus far:

 Killing Vanek. Admittedly, that was satisfying!

 Alma revealing herself and "inspecting" you at the school;

 Open space firefights, which is what FEAR has always done well;

 Good aggressive AI, the use of suppressive fire does the job, and their attempts at rushing you really does make you panic when you're cornered.

da-geezer rating thus far: 7/10

It's a fair shot at a crowded genre. I think that GamesTM's review has made a very good point; this game is moving from the subtle horror of the original to exploring the sci-fi genres. Thinking about it in the shower, the prospect of taking elements of this and Doom 3 would make for an epic game.

We can but dream.

Check out this little Easter Egg I spotted in game, the WoW diehards will recognize this instantly as well as some internet goers:

EDIT: Damned imageshack...new pic up...now...

That's toward the end of the game looking at some computer consoles. Speaking of which I just beat the game, definitely leaves it open for a sequal, but I'm quite disappointed that the scares didn't improve. Oh well, it was still an excellent game and I'll enjoy the multiplayer for a while now.

As above, it was nice to see Alma getting a little more involved near the end of the game.

The final map is probably the best one in the game, really got the adrenaline pumping. I would have been more frustrated than anything if it was the same sort of thing for the early part of the game. I didn't quite understand the final scenes, but as WraithMaster said, it's true sequelbait.

Nicely done, nicely put together, well executed, just missing that key element of innovation and surprise.

Only on interval 2, but some points genuinely made me jump. Pretty decent so far.

 Supposedly you were locked in the chamber with Alma and still strapped to the chair the whole time. Trying to turn on the emitter was basically a hallucination of how you fought Alma. From what I can tell, during your hallucination Alma must have done...uh...stuff to Becket (hence the little jump cuts to Alma in pain/orgasm) to become pregnant. I don't understand the significance behind it, I thought Alma just wanted to absorb Becket, but I guess in an odd way it works.
